The History of Malhamdale Show

Now we have reached the beginning of the 21st Century, Malhamdale Show is still an annual highlight in the life of the community of Malhamdale.

This history of Malhamdale Show was compiled for the 2002 Malhamdale Show by members of Malhamdale Local History Group using information gleaned from many resources. These included local newspapers, old catalogues and minute books of the Malhamdale Agricultural and Horticultural Society, as well as information and pictures kindly donated by many members of the community. The discovery of some early show catalogues in 2008 allowed a little more detail to be added o the eraly years.

The account of Show Day in 1965 was written for the Malham Women's Institute Scrapbook and the atmosphere of excitement and anticipation is no less today than it was then.
